Is the cargobike industry booming?
Well back in 2007 when we started the business, there were barely any cargobikes on the road!
Thanks to a handful of independent cycle shops, a slow and steady influx of of brands begun entering the UK market such as the early adopters Riese & Müller GmbH & Christiania Bikes and Butchers & Bicycles. Sales unfortunately stagnated around 2010 since purchasing a cargobike and not living near the dealers was putting off lots of potential buyers. This is until CYCLEDELIK got involved in the service, repairs and roadside assistance side of things, sales improved, and business thrived, certainly with the independent cargobike dealers we deal with in the London area.
A beautiful and symbiotic relationship had flourished ever since benefiting the local cycling community, boroughs with active travel and green agendas targets such as Ealing Council (London Borough of Ealing) and Hammersmith & Fulham Council as well as improving local and national revenue streams by carving a new economy around mobility in general but specifically the last mile delivery services and active travel.
Here is a great example from the past. Back in 2018, we supported Sustrans an amazing cycling charity look after a great initiative in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. This was a pilot as well as a study to showcase what impact using a cargobike (In this case the wonderfully sturdy and well designed Rieise & muller Packster pictured) has on the business revenue, staff as well as local traffic. Most riders with frame locks (aka ringlocks) at some point locked their cargobike or ebike on the valve resulting in wasted time and money as well as inconvenience.
CYCLEDELIK's latest creation irradicates this problem by putting a stop to accidental frame lock valve damage. The design of the valve guard is easily fitted using a couple of zip ties if needs be and flexible enough to be wrapped around the spokes without damaging them or snapping. The clever design also allows the user to pump the tyre without the need to remove it.
